Home to School Travel and Transport Statutory Guidance
Revised Statutory Guidance
The Department for Education has published its response to the Home to school transport consultation and the revised statutory guidance on home-to-school travel.
They have made the guidance clearer, to help local authorities fulfil their school travel duties in relation to children of compulsory school age.
The new guidance includes improvements on:
- considering if a parent can be expected to accompany their child
- encouraging independence for children with disabilities
- managing children’s medical needs
The revised guidance seeks to clarify local authorities’ statutory duties in relation to home to school travel and transport policy for children of statutory school age, in response to feedback from local authorities and other interested parties.
